JOB TITLE: Academy Head of Recruitment
REPORTS TO: Director of Player Development
FLSA STATUS: Full Time, Salary, Exempt
This role will perform all scouting and recruiting for Sounders FC’s Academy teams. During recruitment, it will be vital for this individual to emphasize the Sounders FC Academy values of humility, community and ambition, as well as the importance of being respectful, polite and considerate.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The duties and responsibilities below include the following; other duties may be assigned.
Scouting; Attracting top player prospects to the club
Host visiting players, parents and coaches
Ensure collection and storage of data on potential trial players
Screen trialists to ensure a multi-disciplinary approach for departmental input
Attend training sessions and matches of partner clubs two times per week
Attend training sessions of Sounders Discovery Program two times per week
Formalize an Academy scouting network
Follow and evolve club’s player identification guidelines
Formalize the procedure for signing and introducing players to ensure high quality of service
Attend all required Academy and Sounders FC all staff meetings
Help ensure that club code of conduct is maintained by candidates and current players
Participate in Sounders FC Academy annual workshop
Spend about 10-15 hours per week on administrative duties in the office – formally recording data, completing any necessary paperwork, etc.

Bi-lingual (Spanish / English) or Multi-lingual skills a plus

Passionate about soccer and player development
Ability to work a varied schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays
Excellent cultural fit with the values of the organization, with a prior history of community involvement preferred
In compliance with federal law, must be able to verify eligibility to work in the United States
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred
Minimum USSF B License or foreign equivalent preferred
Minimum of three years’ experience in soccer recruitment at Academy, collegiate or professional level
This position functions primarily at the Sounders FC training facility in Tukwila. Employee will be required to occasionally travel to off-site meetings and other functions and must have a reliable means of transportation. Some out of town travel will be required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to busy athletic facility areas, outside weather conditions and loud noise levels. Given the nature of the Sounders’ business, employee must be able to work during some evenings and weekends.
